Meet Fawn
Say hello to Fawn, one of our beautiful Shih Tzu girls here at Prestige Pets!
Fawn is being raised with lots of everyday care and attention, giving her a chance to become familiar with people, normal household activity, and the routines that come along with family life.
We enjoy letting each puppy develop at their own pace rather than trying to put a label on their personality too soon. Even puppies from the same litter can be wonderfully different from one another, and getting to know those individual qualities is part of the fun.
Our job is to give Fawn a caring start and plenty of positive experiences while she is with us.
What's It Like to Have a Shih Tzu?
There's a reason the Shih Tzu has been treasured as a companion dog for generations. They're small enough to curl up comfortably beside you, but they certainly aren't short on personality.
Shih Tzus are generally known for being affectionate, social, playful, and closely connected to their people. Many enjoy being included in whatever their families are doing, whether that's hanging out around the house or joining in on everyday activities.
Their size can make them adaptable to a variety of homes and lifestyles, but they are first and foremost companion dogs. They tend to appreciate plenty of interaction and time with their people.
Like every dog, though, each Shih Tzu has an individual personality. Fawn will have her own preferences, habits, and characteristics that make her special.
Learning Through Everyday Life
Some of the most useful puppy experiences are also the simplest.
Fawn is given opportunities to experience everyday sounds, people, handling, routines, and normal activity while she is at Prestige Pets. We want those ordinary parts of life to feel familiar rather than completely new when she makes the transition into her future home.
Socialization isn't about overwhelming a puppy with as many experiences as possible. We prefer a more natural approach, introducing new things in positive and manageable ways.
Along with those experiences, Fawn gets plenty of time for play, interaction, and all the other things that make puppyhood fun.
Building Good Habits
We also begin introducing Fawn to a few routines that can be helpful once she's living with her family.
Her early training includes:
Potty Training: In progress
Crate Training: In progress
Leash Training: In progress
These are starting points, not finished skills.
Changing homes also means learning an entirely new schedule and environment, so continued training will be important. A little patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement from her family will help Fawn understand what's expected of her.
Keeping Fawn Healthy
Fawn's care includes routine health and veterinary attention.
She will receive a complete veterinary health examination and will be kept up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming.
Her parents have also been screened for breed-related health concerns as part of the breeding practices at Prestige Pets.
Fawn is microchipped for permanent identification and will go home with a 1-year genetic health guarantee.
Those Famous Shih Tzu Locks
One thing future Shih Tzu families should be prepared for is grooming!
The breed's beautiful coat requires regular maintenance to help keep it clean, comfortable, and free of tangles. Depending on the hairstyle a family chooses, this can include routine brushing, bathing, nail care, and visits to a professional groomer.
Many families choose to keep their Shih Tzu in a shorter "puppy cut" because it's easier to maintain, while others enjoy keeping that classic longer Shih Tzu look.
Either way, making grooming a regular and positive part of life can make caring for that beautiful coat much easier.
Heading Home With the Essentials
We want Fawn's family to have the important information they need when she leaves Prestige Pets.
She'll go home with:
Health records and vaccination history
Microchip information
Starter food to make the food transition easier
1-year genetic health guarantee
Keeping some things familiar during the transition can be helpful while Fawn gets used to a new home, new routine, and new people.
Our Approach at Prestige Pets
At Prestige Pets, we want our puppies to experience plenty of care, interaction, and positive everyday life before they head home.
For our Shih Tzu puppies, that means regular attention, early socialization, exposure to normal routines, and beginning some of the basic skills their families will continue working on.
We don't expect a puppy to arrive at their new home knowing everything. Instead, we want to provide a good foundation and give families a starting point they can build upon.
Getting to Know Fawn
Choosing a puppy is about more than falling in love with a cute face. It's also about finding a breed and an individual puppy that make sense for your family and lifestyle.
If you've been considering a Shih Tzu puppy, take some time to learn about the breed, think about grooming and training needs, and most importantly, get to know Fawn.
She'll be ready for her next chapter beginning November 11, 2026, and we're happy to answer questions and help you learn more about this sweet little girl.
